A weekly (hopefully) podcast by a couple of nerdy guys about their favorite thing: riding motorcycles! The Wheelnerds will cover just about any aspect of motorcycling that captures their attention. Come along for the ride and keep in touch with what’s going on with the sport. From their homebase in Utah, the Wheelnerds will cover new (to them anyway) models and whatever long-distance riding they can talk their significant others into letting them cut out for.
Todd can’t really pinpoint the exact moment he crossed the line from “guy with a bike” to “bike guy” but it could probably be pinpointed by measuring how much he annoyed the people around him by talking about motorcycles. Todd started out on a too-big too-powerful Suzuki GS750L lovingly nicknamed “Purple Rain” by his coworkers. Since the bike was so old no shop would so much as glance at it, Todd had to become his own mechanic and set to it with gusto. Nowadays Todd uses his shadetree skills on a DL1000 and a Ural Patrol. He’ll talk your ear off about technique on two or three wheels if you let him, or if you happen to take an MSF class that he’s teaching. Todd dreams of riding every bike in the world once just to see what it’s like, and prefers to keep the rubber side down.
Chuck‘s first time was in the fourth grade on a dirt bike in a farmer’s field. He promptly rode it into the furrow left by the tractor and fell over. In college, he got talked into getting on the back of a sportbike and promptly lost his contact lens and a large chunk of masculinity cred. After spending another ten years laughing at ‘donorcycle’ jokes, he finally felt the itch to be on a bike and took the Basic Riding Course from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Which he promptly failed. Fortunately, he retested through, and passed, and got his first bike: a Ninja 250. Which he promptly fell over on in a parking lot. From such auspicious beginnings, he rides now on a 1998 Honda VFR, a 2012 Triumph Thruxton, and a 2006 Buell Ulysses (when it’s running). He’s the poster child for knowing enough to be dangerous when it comes to mechanics and frequently inflicts his semi-baked skills on his stable of bikes, which would be a large reason for the Ulysses sometimes not-running. He wants to ride every bike in the world if he can get it away from Todd, and prefers keeping the shiny-side up.
Nice one-zie Todd. Very euro. I’ve yet to see Chuck’s suit, but I hear it’s a lady killer. I’m sure they’re quite functional, but I can’t get past the image of my grandpa walking around in his farmer-gear jumpsuit saying, “Pull my finger.”
Chuck looks…stoned?? Or did you leave the Buell running while you were working on it? Wait a minute…It’s the Buell.
You guys are off to a great start! Best of luck with your blog and podcast! I look forward to hearing more.
“IT RUNS” 😉
ok, I guess I’m the only listener from Switzerland and probably the only girl, too. You saved my day today – have to do some mindless computer stuff and listening to you guys bullshitting around made it a lot better. The others im my office might not share this opinion although I tried not to laugh too loud.
keep it up, I’ll be your Swiss fan!
Wow. That’s awesome. Do your coworkers hear us and then look at you with stony faces of disapproval and shake their heads???
Yep. And they’re doing it again, through the whole of episode 7.
And damn, I thought I was cool with my metal boxes. Hmmm. I might paint a few R’s on them, maybe that helps.
Keep going, your show is the funniest I found on the internet in a long while!
Some Wheelnerd stickers would be guaranteed-cool!
Chuck, if I ever get my bike’s fueling issues sorted you’ll be welcome to try plugging in the stock ecm… in the mean time I know my carbed Buell will keep working fine, as long as I keep the hardware properly tight!
Your podcast is absolutely shit, I don’t understand how people can possibly listen to this garbage. Laughing like little girls at each others unfunny bullshit. You should just shut down the podcast and start sucking each others cocks full time like you know you want to.
Thanks, man! It’s flattering to know you have such vivid fantasies about us!
I would much rather watch you suck each other off than listen to your podcast, just refrain from talking please
See?
I somehow managed to listen to a full podcast today, regretfully. But I will take that shirtless autographed picture and proudly display it on my wall, just make sure to send a few stickers with it.
You can’t cover the nipples with em 🙂
I’ll just stick them on my fridge
Good job guys!
